Многие разведанные полиметаллические месторождения Рудного Алтая в Алтайском крае еще не востребованы промышленностью несмотря на то, что здесь создана крупнейшая минерально- сырьевая база цветной металлургии. Например, Корбалихинское полиметаллическое месторождение, в окрестностях Змеиногорска- одно из крупнейших в мире! В советское время (до распада СССР) отработано только одно крупное Золотушинское и одно малое Крючковское месторождения. На рудах Золотушинского месторождения при доступной проектной мощности работал высокорентабельный горно-обогатительный комбинат. Руды Крючковского месторождения с высоким содержанием золота и серебра отработаны открытым способом горнодобывающими предприятиями Восточно- Казахстанской области.
Кроме известных полиметаллических месторождений во всех трех рудных зонах(Змеиногоской, Золотушинской и Рубцовской) Алтайского края высоки перспективы выявления новых, но глубоко залегающих промышленных объектов. Освоение этих месторождений в перспективе внесло бы значительный вклад в экономический потенциал края.
